I. Differences in Materials
Both cast iron pots and refined iron pots use iron as their primary raw material, but there are differences in the type of iron and manufacturing processes. Cast iron pots are cast from materials such as iron, carbon, and silicon after high-temperature smelting; they have a relatively rough surface and are quite heavy. Refined iron pots, on the other hand, are made from high-quality pig iron that undergoes multiple processing steps—including extrusion, drawing, and machining—before being cast into shape; they have a smoother surface and are lighter in weight.
II. Differences in Manufacturing Processes
The production process for cast iron pots involves smelting pig iron, pouring it into a mold, and baking it at high temperatures; whereas the production process for refined iron pots involves continuous casting, in which molten iron is poured directly into a mold to form the pot. This continuous casting process produces cookware with a smooth exterior, making it easier to handle and use.
III. Differences in Characteristics
Cast iron pans offer excellent heat retention and distribute heat evenly, effectively preserving the nutrients and texture of food. In contrast, refined iron pans heat up faster than cast iron pans, quickly transferring heat to the food, making them ideal for cooking items like pancakes. However, refined iron pans are slightly inferior to cast iron pans in terms of heat retention and insulation.
